ROP logoThe Santa Cruz County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) was founded in 1968 as one of the original ROP's in California, providing career and technical training for adults and youth, ages 16 years and older. It was decided at that time to provide services at individual sites throughout the county instead of at a single center. A unique feature of SCCROP is its year-round program with many summer offerings, making it very accessible to high school students.

Currently, the SCCROP serves four districts with seven comprehensive high schools, two continuation high schools, adult education programs, numerous alternative schools and programs, four charter schools, the community college, and the adult population, as a whole.

In the past eight years, the program shifted its emphasis from traditional vocational education courses to a broader based career curriculum developed using six career pathways defined by local market needs.

The program provides over 50 courses in the six career pathways at all high schools and several community agencies.
