The Personnel Commission under State law is charged with the authority and responsibility for establishing rules pertaining to the administration of the classified service. Education Code Section 45260, states "the Commission shall prescribe, amend and interpret such rules as may be necessary to insure the efficiency of the service and the selection and retention of employees upon a basis of merit and fitness."

The SCCOE Personnel Commission routinely meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, 400 Encinal Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060.
