YES (Youth Experiencing Success)

Student graduatingWe Believe: You have limitless power; You can do anything you want when you put your mind to it; and if better is possible, then good is not enough.

The YES program is a school that serves teens who are dedicated to sobriety and recovery. Students learn to value themselves and others while completing their high school education. The program is a collaborative effort between the County Office of Education and Youth Services.

Everyday, students attend core academic classes, prepare for the High School Exit Exam and attend counseling groups. Additionally, students receive instruction in vocational education, art, poetry and physical education.

The foundation of the program is self-empowerment accompanied by peer support. The success of the YES program is attributed to the students’ strong motivation to achieve academic and emotional growth. All students voluntarily participate in the program and rely on each other for support and encouragement.

Students reflect on YES School:

“My life has changed in many ways since I’ve come to this school. I’ve gotten clean and made new friends. I also got a job and earned people’s trust again.”

“It has helped me to better my life and make better choices for myself. Not everyone gets a new beginning, but I’m glad that I did.”

“This year in school was the best grades and support I have ever gotten in my life. When I got my grades I felt very good about myself and it helped others to respect me more.”

“Now I know I can live a better life and be clean and sober and still have a heck of a lot of fun doing it. Thank you to everyone who has stuck behind me and supported me in changing my life. It is better.”

“Youth Services has given me the necessary tools to go through life clean and sober. I feel this place has left me in a happier place, with a halo over my head.”

Thank you YES Program.

“The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”
